Strike Update

strikepay.png

Currently, there is an ongoing Workers Union strike in the Faroe Islands that is affecting several sectors, including fresh food supplies, some public maintenance, public transportation, and fuel supplies. This situation is impacting various services across the islands, and we want to keep you informed about how it might influence your car rental experience.

Unfortunately, we do not have any information on how long this strike will last, and can therefore only provide information for one day at a time. We are closely monitoring the situation and will stay updated with any new developments.

STRIKE UPDATES

Monday 10th of June:

We are thrilled to inform you that the strike is finally over!

Thank you dearly for your patience and cooperation over the next few days as we all work to return to normal operations.

We look forward to welcoming you with a fully fueled car to endlessly explore our islands.

Monday 27th of May:

  • Fuel supply: Due to the continued disruption in fuel supplies, we regret to inform that we cannot guarantee a car with a full tank of fuel for upcoming rentals. Gas stations across the islands have run out of fuel.
  • Rental Car Availability for existing upcoming bookings: In the worst-case scenario, we may not be able to provide a car at all due to the lack of fuel. Therefore, we must unfortunately advise you to consider your booking as tentative and not guaranteed.
  • Status Check for upcoming bookings: To ensure you have the latest information regarding your car rental, we strongly recommend that you contact us for an update a day prior to your arrival, as we per today cannot guarantee availability due to lack of fuel.
  • Returning a rental car during the strike: With no fuel available at the moment, you are not able to refuel your rental car as required. We will calculate the missing liters and add the fuel charge and handling fee to your rental invoice.

Please check these fuel providers Effo and Magn websites for information about fuel availability across the islands, in the event there might be some fuel supply to some stations. In such case we recommend you to refuel wherever possible and avoid an additional handling fee.

Our team is working diligently to ensure that we can continue to provide you with the best possible service under these challenging circumstances.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team at customerservice@payless.fo or call on (+298) 358800.
