The roads in the Faroe Islands are generally well-maintained, but they can be narrow, winding, and steep in places. Weather conditions can also change rapidly, leading to fog, rain, or strong winds, which can affect driving. Make sure to always check the weather conditions and forecast to be on the safe side.
There are gas stations in most towns across the Islands, but in more remote areas they can be sparse.
Always drive on the right-hand side of the road, wear seat belts at all times, and adhere to speed limits, which are usually 50 km/h in towns and 80 km/h on rural roads. It's also important to note that headlights must be on at all times, even during daylight. In this video you will see more specific information about narrow tunnels, sheeps on the road and more.
